Svetlana, be advised, that obtaining a Russian tourist visa is neither a costly nor a complicated process for foreigners. Processing times can vary slightly, but normally, it only takes 2-3 weeks. Alternatively, if it was necessary to receive the visa in just a few days, the surcharge for expedited services could be considered expensive. Most likely, the man in your correspondence did not apply for the visa at all, and was being knowingly or unknowingly deceitful (I'm sorry if this was in fact the case). The main point I would express, is to not worry about the travel or other expenses during the first meeting. A Man that sincerely desires to understand your character will insist on meeting you in your home city! 😐
